me

This site is all about me.

Well - it's the natural by product of getting a vanity domain, and wanting to play around with web servers and programming at home. But you have to have a home page, and this is it.

But that said - this site *is* all about me. (Yay me!) So here's some stuff about me.

I'm English and born in the early 1970s. By profession I'm a software engineer. That could mean almost anything, but in my case - it means anything from architecture and design to programming. Generally I work on big Java EE systems, but often I work on tools in our infrastructure and development tools. It's the latter that really interests me - Model Driven Development, specifically. I once gave a talk at one of these conferences on OptimalJ MDA, but these days I mostly use Xtext.

I play around at home with programming - MDD stuff, development tools, learning new programming languages and tools (this website and the projects site were an exercise in learning Apache). Some of the projects I've worked on in my spare time are linked in the side bar to the left.

I don't spend *all* my spare time writing software. Some of it is spent drinking.

When I can get a big chunk of time off at once I'll go traveling and drinking together (usually short trips about Britain, or long road trips across the USA with friends).

When I'm traveling (and when I'm not), I like to take photographs (as you can see on my flickr page).

If I'm just staying in - I watch a lot of films, listen to music and read a fair bit.

Other than that - a bit of mountain biking or walking. The normal sort of stuff...

Just to make this page a bit longer - here are some links to stuff that interests me (make of them what you will):
